Prior to founding SCI Business Consulting in 1987, she headed her own import company, served as International Manager of Group Tours for KLM Airways, started an international tour business, and owned several national travel agencies.

Valerie is a member of the Business Council of Westchester and the Westchester County Association, where she previously served on the board. She is a past President of the Westchester Association of Women Business Owners (WAWBO).
